Some Search Suggestions:
Any combination of keywords can be used. The more keywords used, the narrower the search results will be. For example, the keyword "census" will bring back all census records. Whereas the keywords "census" and "1851" will bring back only the 1851 census records. etc.
Some useful keywords are:
  • Place names, eg. Jamaica, Scotland, Paddington, Hill Str, Railway Terrace, Bristol, Gloucester, Ireland
  • Peoples names, eg. Barry, Chapman, Davies, Derrick, Diment, Gilchrist, Green, Hope, Jones, Tipton, Williams, Withers
  • Occupations, eg sergeant, sugar planter, dressmaker, undertaker, signalman, blacksmith, postman, victualler, hotel keeper
  • The following words: census, birth, marriage, death, photo, burial, document, inscription
  • The census years: 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901
