Newspaper Article on the Suicide of John Derrick 1871
Details:
I first discovered that John Derrick had commited suicide when I obtained a copy of his death certificate. The certificate also informed that there had been an inquest. As inquests were frequently reported in the news, I decided to check the newspapers.
The article on the right appeared the day after his death. It was not part of the 'Inquests' section, but a separate news item of its own.
The widow referred to was Lavinia, and the three children were Ada (11), John Henry (9) and Ernest (7).
